Is Joseph Rough taking Prep or just using it as an excuse to bareback?

The latest bareback scene of Joseph Rough was just released last Monday by Lucas Entertainment.

He recently gave an interview with Manhunt Daily where he was asked about his condom and bareback scenes "Yes, I have. I didn't want to do bareback when I first began for fear of being a bad example for my viewers. But with the advent of PrEP, that has changed. There are more ways to have safer sex now than just using condoms, and I think it's a great thing."

Does he have the money to spend on PrEP?

$8,000 divided by 12 months is roughly $650, without check-ups.

  1. It’s covered by most insurance plans. And the governor of NY is making an effort to get it to all men who need it.

  2. I hope he knows what he’s doing. He seems like a sweet guy, I don’t want him to harm himself.

  3. Well he also escorts according to that interview so maybe that pays for it.

  4. I’m on PrEP and it costs me nothing. My insurance lowers the co-payment to $25 and Gilead had a co-payment assistance program that is $25. So my only out of pocket is my quarterly check up and lab work.
Most porn models do have a day job, but yes if you don’t have insurance it’s very expensive. But HIV will be even more expensive.

  5. Has there even been a SC or CF interview on that site?
…SC and CF are not allowed to escort and both companies actually test their models.
LE’s guys are basically the same as RFC, which are, almost exclusively, POZ guys.

  6. “LE’s guys are basically the same as RFC, which are, almost exclusively, POZ guys”
LOL! Really? And you know the HIV status of models how?

  7. PrEP is just another prevention tool and a way for men to take direct control of their sexual health. I believe it is important that we do what we can to reduce the stigma coming form both sides – POZ and NEG.

  8. And what insurance plans do free-lance porn stars get, I wonder ?
$8K to $14K per year ??? M. Lucas has the dough to do that…. but any off-the-street porn star probably is not able to afford PreP.

  9. Take “medication” you don’t need. People are idiots. Pharmaceutical companies have it made.

  10. RFC has stated several times that they only use POZ guys because the sex is “uninhibited.” And those (openly) POZ guys have done creampie scenes with LE. Tenton Ducati and Bailey Blue.

  11. Depending on his income there are programs through Gilliad that you can get PrEP cheaper via a copay discount card or in some cases you get it free. He’s probably got Obamacare like most other porn stars if they are smart have signed up for. He probably isn’t sharing that detailed of information because it really is no ones business but his own and those he has sex with. Speaking about it in his latest interview was being honest but also getting the word about it out, which is beneficial to the community since it’s not being advertised by the drug company.

  12. He’s from IL but lives in NY both states have expanded medicaid so for the income level you estimated he would qualify for medicaid under the Affordable care act.

  13. I don’t think that they only use POZ guys anymore. That might have been true at one time bgut as of late I think that is no longer the case as the studio has gotten bigger.

  14. He has a college education and comes across as being intelligent but in the end it is his life and we are in a free country. Don’t like it don’t watch it. Simple as that.

  15. I was unaware of this drug PrEP, thanks for the info. So this is how people avoid HIV and the porn models from the studios i.e SC and CF continue to have bareback sex to entertain use. I would love to interview one of their models to gain thier thoughts.

  16. That can’t be true anymore because there have been some negative guys there recently. Max Cameron and Brett Bradley for example.

  17. Very rarely does a quality condom break. It costs, at most, a few $ in comparison to thousands of $ for Prep. I have personally used condoms for over 10 years. As a bottom the feeling is just about the same as BB. As a top maybe slightly less sensation than BB. I don’t think the insurance premiums for Americans should go up so that some folks can get a SLIGHTLY enhanced sensation. I have also read that the use of “Prep” as a preventative may reduce the good effects of anti HIV drugs should one become infected. The resistance to condom use by some is mind boggling. I volunteer at an LGBT Community Center, on the main desk in the Lobby are bowls of free condoms and lube and thankfully many people take them every day. Refilling the bowls is one of the joys of my job.

  18. It is not a “free” country if responsible citizens who use effective condoms have to support the irresponsible guys who needlessly become HIV + and in effect often become “wards of the state”. They can’t work full time jobs and depend on government and charities to survive.

  19. Yep some states require their responsible citizens to pay for the irresponsibility of others.

  20. This BS of having the government reach deeper and deeper into the pockets of hard working taxpayers to pay for the irresponsible behavior of others has GOT TO STOP. It is enough to make a good citizen vote for Republican Wing Nuts.

  21. Good condoms RARELY break. If you want others to pay your expensive Prep costs, I say HELL NO!!!

  22. If this is a FREE Country others should not be required to pay for your irresponsibility.

  23. You who have no respect for the porn models that you beat off too, actually believe them when they tell you their HIV Status. If you weren’t such a scum bag this would actually be [progress.

  24. “It is enough to make a good citizen vote for Republican Wing Nuts.”
LOL! Not really. A good citizen might also vote against the Republican crazies. However, if you want to support them, go at it.

  25. PS: and your whole rant is based on assumptions. No one posting here knows anything about Joseph’s healthcare program.

  26. Even assholes like you won’t drive me to vote Republican because they are even crazier than you

  27. No rant and I’m not even talking about Joseph. I am complaining about irresponsible people who think that others should pay higher and higher taxes and insurance premiums so that some can be given expensive preventive Prep instead of inexpensive condoms for their enhanced sexual pleasure.

  28. WTF does that rant have to with the topic of this post, Joseph Rough? And who are these “irresponsible people” who so get under your skin? As for being an asshole, well, madame, I’m following your example.

  29. What I am “ranting” against is people who want insurance companies to pay thousands of dollars for Prep because “irresponsible People” don’t want to use inexpensive condoms as a safer sex aid. They think that we should all pay higher premiums so that they can have a slightly enhanced sexual experience.

  30. Ok, I get it, apparently you a big fan of Joseph Rough according to your replies. You can just hire him as an escort instead of supporting him through the keyborad.

  31. Um, you do know how health insurance works right? They’re not a hand out business. They’re a business! If he lives in the US then he’s paying for his healthcare in one or another.

  32. …except that the proper CDC directed use of PReP is in conjunction with condoms. It is NOT at this time a substitute for condom use. I know I keep repeating this but I think it bears repeating so we don’t create any false assumptions about PReP and its current prescribed and intended use. The studies that tout its power were used in situations where the participants were directed to use condoms.

  33. PReP is just a drug. and HIV is a cunning virus that keeps changing and makes it hard to cure. Having porn stars take this drug and bareback is a dangerous combination because one HIV will become resistant and then this strain will be spread. I think it would be better to have them use condom and edit it out.

  34. Insurance premiums go up the more money the insurance companies have to pay out. Those who practice unsafe sex sometimes get HIV and require lots of medical treatment that the insurance companies have to shell out money for. So the premiums go up for all.

  35. Andrew wish I had more time and space to debate you. Whether or not someone is irresponsible is only your opinion. I could make the same case for smoking, drinking, driving, flying, motorcycling, and a multitude of other things which might harm us, and are arguably preventable. Who gets to decide? Which sins are acceptable, and which ones aren’t? Does PrEP even work? Is the cost justified? Is it ethical to have a MEDICATION which is not available to all? Should it only be available to the wealthy of society? If everyone stopped having sex there would be no more HIV. Is this a reasonable expectation? Again, who gets to decide?
