I’m inclined to believe Owen’s side of the story. Over the years, I’ve purchased scene numerous scene downloads from RFC, perhaps 15 in all. They’re supposedly lifetime purchases and can be found anytime by logging in and going to “My Downloads.” Suddenly a few months ago, more than half were missing. A few weeks ago, a few more were removed. There’s no phone or email for customer support, so I stared a “chat.” No response yet, despite several posts from me. My guess is Owen successfully removed a number of videos, perhaps via copyright infringement claims. Still, someone should have responded to my complaints, or at least made a general announcement explaining what happened.
Total speculation on my part, but the lawyer in me wonders if he signed some kind of contract guaranteeing a certain payment structure for a specified period of time, with rights in perpetuity ultimately going to someone else after the period ended. It’s a great structure if you’re trying to maximize the money you make immediately, but it’s hell when the payments stop, you lose the right to monetize your own content, and you watch someone else constantly making money from it.
